Average Penis Size
Not many things have confused or worried men over the course of their entire history more than their penis sizes. We have all seen or heard about men bragging about their penis sizes and women who seem to go crazy for men with huge penises. The size of a penis is often a very ambiguous subject because people measure penis very differently depending on where you are from and what type of society you lived in there.
Humans have the largest size penis n terms of both absolute size as well as comparative size when compared to other primates. When you look at the history of penis sizes in history we can see that penises played an integrally important role in many older societies and cultures. One of the most popular statues ever made in the entire world is that of David by Michaelangelo and one of the most famous aspects of this statue is its depiction of his penis. The penis is supposed to represent the average human sized penis and the Greeks were actually border-line obsessed with how they portrayed male penises in their work of arts. However, they were never really too concerned with the size of penis.
Several stereotypes exist to this day regarding people of certain ethnicities and their penis size. This might be due to historical reasoning or because of the media. Or even actual truth! Studies have shown that not ALL of these stereotypes are true, but the studies that have been done are not as widespread as would truly give us a firm understanding of whether the stereotypes are myth or not.
One of the most common mistakes that men make when trying to measure their penis size is that they try to overestimate and attempt to stretch it out or push their ruler deep into the pelvic bone, thus injuring themselves. Self studies of the penis are usually unreliable because men tend to overstate the size of the penis. However, significant studies have been done all over the world to measure the size of the human penis. Most studies of these types are done of the penis when it is erect.
One such study is the study that was done back in 1996 and which was published in the Journal of Urology (in the September issue). The study showed that the average length of an erect penis was 12.9cm (5.08 in.). The study was done on 80 Americans that were physically and mentally normal. Another study that was done by the Kinsey Institute showed that the average size of a male penis lies between 5 and 6 inches when erect and that 85% of penises are between 1-4 inches when flaccid. However, the length of the flaccid penis is not proportional to the length of the erect penis. Some men tend to have a longer flaccid penis and vice versa.
Another important measurement for the penis is the circumference of the penis. The average circumference (according to a recent Cancun LifeStyle study) was shown to be 4.9 inches around when erect.
